Congratulations to the Mound Time Bandits!
The big news at Mound Time right now is our 14U Bandits, who are the 2011 Babe Ruth World Series Champions!
After going 2-2 in pool play, the Bandits won it all this week in Glen Allen, Virginia, beating Glen Allen 5-4 in the championship game on Friday.

A group of 14-year-olds from Beaverton and Hillsboro have quite a story to tell.
Not only are they the Babe Ruth World Series Champions, they also experienced the largest earthquake to hit the East Coast in decades,
and found their homecoming delayed by a hurricane named Irene.
The Tualatin Hills Mound Time Babe Ruth baseball team joined us to talk about their big win and all the other events surrounding their time in Virginia.

“It was awesome,” said Mound Time's James Armstrong, who pitched a complete-game four-hitter in the championship.
“It was an incredible experience.”

fell behind 3-0 early on, moved within 3-2 after three innings, then scored twice in the bottom of the seventh to win 4-3 at Glen Allen Stadium.

Mound Time was ticking like a time bomb.
Mound Time, facing Augusta, Va., in its first pool play game in the Babe Ruth World Series for 14-year-olds on Sunday, led just 2-0 after three innings.
But Mound Time lit its fuse in the fourth, blew up for seven runs and just flat blew Augusta away, winning 11-1 at Glen Allen Stadium.

Talk about dominance.
Save for a needed comeback in the last game, the 14-and-under team for Hillsboro-based Mound Time Baseball crushed all its opponents at the
Babe Ruth Pacific Northwest Regional last week in Keizer.
Those results not only gave Mound Time the Regional title, but it advanced the club to the 14-U Babe Ruth World Series.
The 10-team affair runs Aug. 19-26 in Glen Allen, Va.

“It was hands-down the biggest comeback I've ever seen in baseball considering the stage the kids were on and the timing of the comeback,”
added Mound Time manager Greg Cero.
“The kids deserve all the credit in the world.”

Mound Time left fielder Matt Orcutt explained it this way:
“We were just hoping for a big win to make sure we stayed hot and don't let down on Saturday,” he said.
“I started to get a little nervous (when Mound Time's lead shrank to 5-3), but we stayed strong and we finished it out.”
