Melissa Belflower-Pollard
A native of California, Melissa grew up in Onawa, Iowa playing fast-pitch softball. She was a five-year starter for the West Monona Jr./Sr. High School, where she earned Iowa All-State honors in 1999 and named to the 2003 Maple Valley 2nd All Conference Team.
Melissa received her Bachelors Degree from Dakota Wesleyan University in South Dakota where she was a four-year starter and Team Captain for two years due to her consistent performance and strong leadership qualities. While at DWU, she holds University records in Career Hits and Career Runs Scored, and records for her Fielding Average and Infield Assists. In 2007, Melissa was ranked #1 in the nation in Fielding Percentage in NAIA Division I, and received All GPAC Honorable Mention awards in 2006 and 2007. During her career, Melissa played under Coach Sami Strinz of Loyola Marymount University.
Melissa is committed to promoting and encouraging young women’s participation and excellence in athletics. Her unique perspective and achievements make her a positive role model for young women.
