Brent Carter - Speed / Agility Training
My Mission:
Provide athletes the opportunity to improve speed, agility, strength/power, balance, mobility/flexibility, and energy systems, while reducing the risk of sports-related injuries.
Functional Training:
Functional training is a training method that mimics both everyday and sport specific movements. This type of training leads to better muscular balance and joint stability, while reducing the number of injuries and improving an individual's performance in a sport.
Biography:
As a new addition to the Mound Time team, Brent Carter is enthusiastic about the opportunity to offer new sports-specific programs of speed, agility and strength training.
Brent graduated from Missouri State University in 2006 with a B.S. in Exercise Science/Health and Wellness Promotion. After graduation he decided to dive into the clinical setting, working as an Exercise Specialist and Certified Personal Trainer. There he had the opportunity to work with special populations, post rehabilitation clientele, adults and young athletes. After two years in the clinical/physical therapy setting, he decided that it was time to move on to what interested him the most, sports performance training and strength/conditioning.
Soon after changing his career path, Brent accepted a job as a Strength and Conditioning Coach in the St. Louis Cardinals Baseball Organization. He spent one season in their Minor League system and left with and endless amount of knowledge towards sport-specific training and the game of baseball. After the season ended, Brent followed his previous plans and moved to Portland.
Shortly after moving to Portland he accepted a job with Velocity Sports Performance as a Performance Coach, but the facility in Hillsboro was forced to close its doors on April 31st.
With his new role as Sports Enhancement Coach at Mound Time, Brent is eager to continue helping athletes of all ages improve in their sport with his speed, agility and strength training expertise.
Coach Carter says, “I’ve always known sports performance training was the career path I wanted to pursue. Helping athletes achieve their sport-specific goals and become better educated on and off the playing field means a great deal to me. A lot of hard work and dedication can really go a long way!”
